Our Mission
Blood Alcohol Content is widely misunderstood — many people believe there's a "safe number" for driving, or that coffee and cold water can sober you up faster. Our goal is to explain the real science (the Widmark formula, standard drinks, elimination rates) while being unambiguous about one thing: no BAC estimate should ever be used to decide whether to drive.
The only safe BAC for driving is 0.00%. This calculator is for education and awareness only.
Our Methodology
We use the Widmark formula, the standard method used in alcohol research for over 80 years, to estimate BAC from body weight, gender, standard drinks consumed, and time elapsed. We clearly explain its limitations — individual factors like genetics, medication, and food intake can meaningfully change real BAC.
Editorial Standards
Every page on this site reinforces responsible drinking messaging, not just in a buried disclaimer but throughout the experience — including a persistent safety banner and a "never drive" reminder alongside every result.
What We're Building Next
We're exploring content on recognising alcohol poisoning and a directory of local helplines, continuing our focus on safety-first, genuinely useful content.
